Lexicon MC-12B HD EQ

THX Ultra 2: 12 Channel Digital AV Controller. Room EQ. HDMI Switching. Balanced Outputs

Based on the award-winning MC-12BV5 EQ, the MC-12B HD EQ brings HDMI switching to the world’s most celebrated balanced pre-amp/processor with an impressive six HDMI inputs and one HDMI output. In response to the growing availability of HDMI equipped source components, the MC-12B HD EQ will provide state-of-the-art sound quality and control for the most complex home entertainment systems. It retains the features of the acclaimed MC-12BV5 EQ with the addition of HDMI switching capabilities.

To simplify the wiring of analogue video sources, the MC-12B HD EQ also includes up-conversion of Composite Video and S-Video sources to Component Video.

Version 5.0 EQ continues Lexicon’s improvement programme. Retaining all elements of V4EQ software, V5EQ adds a newly designed implementation of Logic7, extending the MC-12 platform’s advantage over the competition. Another V5EQ feature, the Lexicon LIVE! system, is able to create an expansive soundstage for live recordings. Both V5EQ and LIVE! require the optional AKG microphone kit.

The new V5 EQ software will allow the user to find and correct problematic low frequencies in the listening space to within 0.732Hz (that’s ten times more precise than a graphic EQ), yet is easy to operate and requires only a small amount of user interaction to achieve superior results. In contrast with traditional room equalisation methods, which simply attempt to flatten the frequency response of the listening room, Lexicon’s V5 EQ algorithm measures the decay times of the room resonance modes and prioritises those with the longest and therefore most destructive decay times. Correcting them for one listening position also fixes them for others, resulting in a more uniform experience from seat to seat. Unlike other EQ solutions, V5 EQ utilizes four microphones, allowing detection of room modes that would be missed by systems that employ a single microphone.
Detailed correction can be applied to all channels: seven filters for each of the seven main channel outputs and three subwoofer outputs. The additional DSP ensures that the best results can be obtained for all of the speakers in the system.
