Ultima2 Floor Standing Loudspeaker. Titanium & Beryllium Drivers
The Revel Ultima Studio2 is a floor standing design which represents current state-of-the-art innovation from one of America’s most prestigious loudspeaker manufacturer. Smaller than the Salon2, the Studio2 succeeds the original globally-renowned Studio design as a no-compromise three-way loudspeaker ideal for all but the largest rooms.
Enormous care and attention to detail has been employed in the design of the in-house transducers used by the Studio2. Its three-way system comprises two 8-inch woofers, a 5.25 inch midrange and 1-inch tweeter. Crossover networks are as finely calibrated and the sophistication extends to the cast aluminium input and control panel, which is hidden from view, yet easily accessible.
The Studio2 retains the elegant lines of the Salon2. Its smooth acoustically optimised curved cabinet, available in either a high-gloss mahogany veneer or high-gloss black finish, will blend easily with a wide variety of décors. Studio2’s seductive form is mirrored by the shape of its magnetically attached grilles to provide a wholly satisfactory sense of completeness.
Demonstrating Revel’s perfectionist approach to loudspeaker design and performance, the Ultima Studio2 is ideal for medium to large spaces and the perfect complement to the most sophisticated of interiors.
Revel’s unique R&D*
Advanced research in psychoacoustics in combination with unequalled testing facilities has given Revel a thorough understanding of how loudspeakers perform in the ‘real world’. This pragmatic ‘real world’ approach is of fundamental importance to the ordering of Revel’s design priorities.
In living spaces, sound reflections from the walls, ceiling and floor reach a listener’s ear quickly and are as important as the sound heard directly from a loudspeaker. What a person ‘hears’ is actually a combination of sounds from a variety of directions. Revel’s ability to identify, quantify and test the factors that determine how a speaker will sound in a variety of home environments has inspired entirely new thinking in loudspeaker design and has objectivised the process of speaker comparison at the prototype stage.
Many loudspeaker manufacturers spend time and effort designing their loudspeakers but fail to assess accurately and objectively the performance of a design against competing products. Every Revel speaker is compared with competitors’ loudspeakers using a fastidious two-stage approach. Firstly, under blind-listening conditions (the speakers can’t be seen), an automated speaker selector turntable physically moves each speaker to an identical position relative to the listeners. This ensures there are no differences in room boundaries from one speaker to another. Secondly, experienced and skilled listeners analyse each speaker in a totally random order.
